Vernal Equinox Gatherings

  • DawnStar Lodge 1916 Upper Miller Creek Rd Missoula USA (map)

You are cordially invited to join us Saturday, March 22nd to the DawnStar Lodge for Sacred Springtime, Vernal Equinox/Ostara events!

We will hold 2 events on this day.

The 1st being Sacred Spring Service and meditation.

The 2nd will be artful attunement of mandala making and egg decorating.

For all interested in seed swapping a table and small envelopes will also be available, bring seeds if you are able!

Dear Community, we hope that despite all the challenges of the wheel's turning you have held space for yourself and your loved ones to center, ground and rise with your strength and gifts to meet whatever may come your way.

The dreamtime, stillness and incubation of winter are waking into the season of fertility, birth and regeneration. It is the perfect time to embrace the season's onset with renewed intention for the care and growth of self, community and the cosmic womb we are inseparable from.

Lunar and solar eclipses reside on either side of the Vernal Equinox's approach, as so much of the world may feel out of balance, a cosmic balance is at play, calling to our considerations and trust.

On the Vernal Equinox, March 20th, in Chichen Itza, at the Pyramid of Kukulkán, a shadow in the shape of a dragon looks like it is descending the stairs. A reflection of Higher powers coming to bring guidance and support to earthly affairs.

The thaw is upon us, the poplar buds are growing sticky, the crocus and iris, glacial lily, wild onion and camas will soon be sprouting. TierraMadre, Pachamama, awakens and her magical renewal never ceases to astound. She is calling to our renewal of vision, of energy, to remember from where we have come, what inspires our growth, and how our gifts support collective potential.

Ostara (or Ēostre) is a feminine form or goddess from the germanic traditions embodying Dawn, Spring, and the new beginnings they bring. She is only one of many deities from around the globe whose stories and reflection sing to us of Nature’s fertility, desire to provide abundance and respond to the needs of all our relations..

As the Christian and contemporary traditions of Easter and the Easter bunny approach as well, I always recall a story of Ostara:
In the late winter the Goddess was rushing across the land when she happened across a suffering bird. The bird was covered in frost and could no longer fly. Ostara took the bird in her hands and tried to warm it, but to no avail. Knowing the poor creature would soon die, her compassionate heart transformed the bird into a rabbit so she could hop away and make a burrow to weather out the rest of winter. It is said that because of her former life as a bird, this rabbit could still lay eggs. And [in my favorite version of this tale] the rabbit would paint her eggs in gratitude to the goddess for renewing her life.Allowing the story to become metaphors of our own reflection: How do we embrace, empower, embody the mystical nature of empathy and compassion? Where is the dying bird in our lives that we can offer a new form? How can we express gratitude for the new forms aspects of our lives are taking?

Embracing the transitions of the Cosmic Wheel, we gather!

Timing of the two events on Saturday the 22nd, as well as a place for community seed swapping.

1pm- 2pm There will be Sacred Service in which we will share in communion with sacrament, coming together to share in group prayer and meditation with a microdose of the sacred mushrooms, which the indigenous Huautla refer to as niños santos or “little saints.”.

There will be time for socializing or self reflection afterward, 2-2:30pm, before the next event begins.

The 2nd offering, 2:30-4:30pm will be artful attunement! We will open with a jungian art exercise from which we can branch out into creating individual and/or collective mandalas- using sacred geometry or freeform, following the calling of your expressive heart!

We will also have a station for egg decorating with natural dyes, flowers, etc. Ever tried drawing a mandala on an egg with crayon, today's the day!

The events will be hosted at Dawnstar Lodge, 9416 Miller Creel Rd, 59803

A suggested donation of $15 to attend one of the events and $25 for both will help us to cover the cost of supplies and prepare for our next events. We have deep gratitude for all who can offer more, and also make a point that no one should feel unable to attend for monetary limitations.
